I’d never looked forward to a Tuesday in my life.
Until this past week. It was a GIRLS DAY OUT- (margaritas & baby talk, anyone?), all for a little FREEDOM… The Free to Succeed Tour with David Jay, Photographer-Entrepreneur, and LIFE-COACH, extraorldinnare! My photog buddies and I headed up to Charlotte to get a glimpse of life in the FAB lane.. and it was a blast! We finally got some hands-on time with Couture Book and their samples… MAN… those are some GORGEOUS books… So many choices.. it’s kind of like shoe shopping! I’m seriously thinking about adding this line to my available albums… what do you think? Go check them out- but I’m telling you- the online site doesn’t do them justice! DJ explained how to streamline our workflow to make our clients happy, yet have enough time left over to keep ourselves & our families happy. This seminar couldn’t have come at a better time since I struggled so long with announcing my new business hours (even though it’s been working out better than expected)!
We learned some tips on Adobe Lightroom, which is what I edit in (and I LOVE it)… if you’re a photographer and haven’t gotten this, you are wasting too much time on editing! We also got some preaching on “be unique”, which… um… has been my passion in life ever since I was born- thank you mama! We had a great night meeting some new friends, and I wish we could have stayed longer & gotten some shots of DJ’s gorgeous girlie girl, Allie, and friends Kenny Kim & Shyla Dalirifar, but we had babies at home so we had to haul tail back! **DJ, Thanks so much for being so awesome!***
Here we are before it all started- from L-R is Marian Loftis, MEEE, Jana Candler (I’m so jealous, she hogged him all night- just kidding!), DJ, Lisa Carpenter, and Amanda Eller!

Marian looking not-too-happy that I’m shooting her in mid-sentence:)

We were cool enough to sit on the front row so I snapped this quickie of DJ, as he caused light bulbs to go off in our heads:

In other news…
I decided to give into Taelor’s begging & pleading & put her in TaeKwanDo. When I was her age (actualy younger than her), I was in full swing in clogging lessons. Yes, I clogged my whole life - and I was quite awesome if I do say so myself… but after many attempts to get her to take any form of dance, she refused, and continued to carry on with her tomboy personality.. so I took her and she LOVES it. I’ve never seen her so happy! I think it’s actually a GREAT fit for her.. She’s having fun and learning some valuable pointers in case she ever has to whoop some a$$. Additionally as far as lessons go, my husband is going to kill me, but his little random birthday gift certificate to me for ballroom dance lessons has actually turned into one of our favorite things! We’ve been taking for a few months now, concentrating on Salsa, Rhumba, and Tango- that being our most favorite, and what we’re best at- go figure. If any of you are interested in taking an intro class or two, please let me know, as we will get a free lesson if anyone mentions our names:)
Anyway, back to Taelor & TaeKwanDo.
I decided to bring along my camera yesterday to one of her classes - you know, to show you all how fierce and terrifying this girl is when she’s in action… whoah. So I picked up my camera, and headed for the door, and this is what I saw staring back at me, as I usually see staring back at me about 18 hours of the day:

Yes, his hair is really that long and curly. It’s just a big fluff of white blonde curls. I love it so much, no matter how un-groomed he looks. And yes, he cries almost all day long:) Ahhh…. so much more of it to come. He’s actually turning 1 year old this month!!! Can you believe it? It seems like yesterday I was waddling, bending, stretching, and rolling around with my huge belly at weddings & shoots, and now here he is, almost a year old. Man time flies.
Here is Taelor, fresh and in her gi (pronnounced with the “g” as in “game” and a long e sound: “gee”). It’s so funny because I always call it a “G” (as in the letter itself). She looks like she’s a high black belt by this arrogant smirk on her face. Like she’s daring you to come TRY to take her down.

And here we are at class.. she kept looking back at me so much I was afraid they were going to tell me to put the camera away… but they didn’t. She eventually started paying attention. I’m so excited to see her move up in ranks as she gets older! Supposedly it will take her about 2 years to become a black belt.

That’s all for now- I’m off to bed for the 2nd half of Anna & Roc’s wedding tomorrow!
